Full Time Classes start March 19th, 2012. Four week Basic Course $1800 or Ten Week Behavior Training Course $4800.

Did you know that professional dog trainers are special people? They are patient, consistent, understanding and knowledgable on dog behavior problems. They understand the personalities and temperments of large breeds like the Rottweiler and they understand small breeds like the Yorkie Terrier. They have spent hours working hands on with dogs in almost every situation to gain this knowledge. The professional dog trainer is called upon for problems such as housebreaking, nipping, jumping, running away, leash breaking, separation anxiety, barking and aggression.
Professional dog trainers are very much in demand today. They understand how to calm the most difficult adult dog or puppy. As dog educators and trainers, they are versed in different methods of training and do not rely on one method. They understand that in order to help dogs they must be able to use traditional training methods using training collars and praise. They also understand that some dogs may require other methods not traditional.
If you think that becoming a professional dog trainer only involves knowledge of dog and puppy training and behavior, you are mistaken. A professional dog trainer is also a business person, a teacher and a counselor to the people who hire them. Communication skills are essential when working with the public. It is up to the trainer to teach the owners how to get their dogs better behaved. Because many owners today are going through difficult times and stress; the trainer must also be understanding and empathetic.
At Jo-Thor's Dog Trainers' Academy, you will be taught by Master Trainers who have over 30 years of experience. Master Trainers who want you to be successful. They will take their time guiding you while you train problem dogs. They will work closely with you as you learn to verbalize lessons. Lessons which will be made available to you when you graduate.
Jo-Thor's Dog Trainers' Academy has two locations in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, and within five miles of each other. One is located in Alpharetta where there are agility fields and open areas for dog sports. The other is a doggie day care, day school and board/train facility in Roswell. In both facilities, you will watch and become involved with a real dog training business.

Jo-Thor's Dog Trainers Academy is a private vocational school certified by the State of Georgia and is "Authorized under the Non-Public Postsecondary Educational Institutions Act of 1990." The School’s certification is honored throughout the United States as well as internationally. Jo-Thor's Dog Trainers' Vocational Academy has been visited and reviewed pursuant to state standards, and the curriculum is consistent in quality with the curriculum offered by traditional institutions.

What makes our vocational school unique is that we coordinate our daily dog training business with our vocational students. You are given the schedule (time and dates) when we teach group classes, and work privately with clients. Then we coordinate the hours you have available to be at our school to observe, train a dog or help assist the clients.
You learn first hand how we work with clients and teach them how to train their unruly dogs. You will watch and learn from experienced trainers as they educate and train dogs. You will be given various breeds and dogs of different ages to train, plus you will be able to bring your own dog(s) to train.
